Eastern York Region North Durham Ontario Health Team (EYRND OHT) has partnered with Oak Valley Health and Ontario Health to open the Virtual Urgent Care Clinic (VUCC) - Central Region. Launched in July 2023, the VUCC has served the communities of Mississauga to Huntsville and Orangeville to Markham.
The VUCC operates after hours and is available for those who require timely access to care for urgent, non- life-threatening conditions that can be addressed virtually. This nurse practitioner-led clinic operates daily from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is integrated with the services offered by EYRND OHT, its partners, and its regional partners. The VUCC is accessible to all residents within the Central Region.
Below is a list of developed promotional materials for organizations to use to support and promote awareness for the VUCC and its services. These resources have been developed for general use, and multiple formats and sizes have been provided.

"I recently moved out of the region from the location of my family doctor, where she only offers in-person visits. From my new residence, it would take me over 3 hours of travel just to attend an appointment, plus the duration of the appointment and the wait-time. Therefore, access to primary medical care was a barrier for me in my new city.
After no luck with finding a family doctor where I moved, I resorted to using a nearby walk-in clinic. Availability of the MD was only a couple times a week during certain business hours, which made the days I would visit the clinic a bit longer of a wait due to higher volumes. Nonetheless, my walk-in clinic experience was roughly 90 minutes. I was a bit happier that my time seeing a doctor was cut in half, but it's a big chunk out of the business day.
I recently learned about Ontario Health Central Region's Virtual Urgent Care clinic. It took about 10 minutes to create an account and book an initial virtual appointment, but I could plan the appointment around my availability. Leading up to the appointment, I received an email with a confidential zoom link. My appointment started on time, and it was with a Nurse Practitioner, so she was able to prescribe exactly what I needed.
Primary healthcare is only a click away for me now. I can access a healthcare professional in the comfort of my own home, in under ten minutes, and get exactly what I need. I'm so thankful for the time, transit, privacy, and comfort that I now have back through this new Virtual Urgent Care clinic."
